My love for horses came from a very young age. I started riding at the age of two and just enjoyed hacking and local shows, especially the fancy dress classes. My love for competing came from my 13.2 Hamish, he was an absolute jumping machine and won me numerous of rosettes but most importantly gave me the confidence I still hold today, I owe this pony everything. My next horse wasn't so forgiving, Gabby came over from Ireland and had the most horrendous past. I lost count the times she kicked or bit me and she loved a good nap. She was the most frustrating horse I've owed but it wasn't all bad, she taught me how to be understanding, patient and taught a very important lesson, it wasn't always about winning. For me the feeling of getting our first clear showjumping was far more of an achievement, considering couldn't even get over the first jump when we started. My showing side only started after meeting Jack at college in 2010 and I came to work for fabulous Team Holder. I learnt so much from Team Holder and had the most amazing times travelling the country. I used to hate riding infront of people but with Team Holder this simply was not an option and gradually, with their help, I've finally overcome this fear. Gayle very kindly handed me a rescue coloured to work with, Ridmor Joker and I was fortunate enough to compete him at Royal International. It was one of the best and most emotional days, galloping up that hill was simply the best feeling! My next horse, Hersonsmill Sandpiper was also given to me by Gayle as a birthday present, another emotional day! We had a great time together and grew a very strong bond. Our showing highlight had to be riding in the Queens Garden. I had been to Royal Windsor plenty of times with Team Holder but being able to compete there was just amazing. I unfortunately grew to old for Intermediates I thought I'd give eventung a go. As a little girl I've always watched eventing on the TV and was mesmerised by it, often playing games pretending to be my riding idols, my favourites at the time being Lucinda Green, Mary King and Pippa Funnel. Lucky for me Hersonsmill Sandpiper also adored eventing and was an absolute cross country machine. Unfortunately he a leg injury put a sudden stop to our eventing but I was lucky enough to be handed the reins of Pippin Toby from Jack Holder. We are currently competing in BE100 and loving it with our regional finals to look forward to next year. We also took part in our first workers together this year and throughly enjoyed it with the hope to do more in the future. Being part of a team for me is a huge part to success. The support and encouragement you get is just overwhelming and not to mention the fun times and memories you make, it truly makes each step that bit more special.
